SwiftyHosts — Terms of Service / End User License Agreement
Effective date: 2026-01-01 Last updated: 2026-01-01
By downloading, installing, or using SwiftyHosts ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.
1. Parties
These Terms form a binding agreement between SwiftyTool ("we", "us", "our") and you, the individual or legal entity using the App.
2. License grant
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, perpetual, world-wide license to install and use the App on any Mac that you personally own or control, for either personal or internal business purposes. SwiftyHosts is currently distributed free of charge; if a paid edition is introduced in the future, those terms will be presented separately at the point of purchase and a fair upgrade path will be offered to existing users.
A single user is expected to install the App only on Macs they themselves own or control. Redistribution to third parties is not permitted (see Section 3).
3. What you may not do
You agree not to:
- Resell, sublicense, lease, rent, or distribute the App or the license key to any third party
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent that such activity is expressly permitted by applicable law
- Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable law
- Use the App to deliberately interfere with the security or normal operation of any computer system or network you do not own or are not authorised to operate
4. Updates
We may from time to time release updates that fix bugs, improve performance, or add features. Free minor and patch updates (e.g. 1.0 → 1.x) are included with your license. Major version upgrades (e.g. 1.x → 2.0) may require a separate paid upgrade at our discretion; if so, you will be notified before installing such an upgrade.
We are not obligated to maintain backward compatibility with older macOS releases indefinitely.
5. Refunds
SwiftyHosts is currently distributed free of charge, so refunds are not applicable. If a paid edition is introduced in the future, the refund policy of the relevant payment provider (e.g. Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad) will apply, and the policy will also be summarised on our pricing page at that time.
6. The App writes to /etc/hosts
You acknowledge that the core function of the App is to modify your Mac's /etc/hosts file via a Privileged Helper that you authorise on first use. Modifications to /etc/hosts can affect how your Mac resolves domain names. You are solely responsible for the content you write to /etc/hosts and for any consequences thereof, including but not limited to broken access to legitimate services or unintended redirection of network traffic.
The App always keeps a snapshot of your original /etc/hosts so you can revert at any time via Settings → Advanced.
7. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, OR BE ERROR-FREE.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE LICENSE.
9. Termination
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. We may terminate or suspend your license immediately, without prior notice, if you materially breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and delete all copies in your possession or control.
10. Open source components
The App may bundle third-party open-source libraries. Their respective licenses are listed in the About → Acknowledgements section of the App. Nothing in these Terms restricts your rights under those open-source licenses.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of Hangzhou.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at our website. Material changes will be highlighted in the App's release notes. Your continued use of the App after a change becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
